EMBLEM Mecha 1.0
Library of basic effects for MEMS design
EMBLEM stands for Efficient Modeling with Behavioral Library of Engineering Models. It is the name of a range of engineering model libraries which ease the design of logic, analog and mixed-signal circuit and multi-domain system models. This family targets different domains like automotive, mechatronics, SoC Integration, ViC Aggregation, etc.
EMBLEM Mecha is the dedicated library for multi domain design of micro and macro scale systems. It integrates basic effects occurring in and between electro-mechanical structures. It allows the development of MEMS models of any kind such as pressure sensors, gyroscopes, accelerometers for micro scale… as well as macro scale models such as car damper systems, window winders, camera winders, hard disc drives... It is delivered with the SLASH bundle which includes the schematic editor SLED and the mixed-signal and multi-level simulator SMASH.
A tangible increase of designer’s productivity is obtained by integrating multi-domain models in Virtual Tests. The designer of mixed electromechanical systems can simulate the whole system – the mechanical part with the electronic part – and thus investigate the interactions between the parts.
KEY FEATURES
-
Reusable and parameterizable (e.g. weight of material, geometrics) models in VHDL-AMS
-
Fully integrated in SLASH
-
Interconnection of models without having the knowledge of the mathematical description of the complete device
-
Compatibility with 3rd party libraries like the standardized statistical analysis package SAE J2748 and the VDA library, both bundled with SMASH

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
Release 1.0 of EMBLEM Mecha targets SoC designers and system integrators working on sensor and actuator applications, i.e. for control applications, security systems, automotive industry… It allows to assemble models of inertial sensors and actuators like accelerators, gyroscopes, micro mirrors, resonators for MEMS filters… and to integrate them into electronic circuit schematics.
EMBLEM Mecha 1.0 covers fundamental effects of rotational and translational movements of massesapplicable in three dimensions (3-D):
-
4 attraction effects between conductive plates
-
6 elasticity (bending) effects of beams
-
4 capacity effects between conductive plates
-
1 Coriolis effect
-
5 damping effects
-
5 inertia effects of plates and beams
-
