Flip8051 WHIRL16-Cyclone | 8-bit /16-bit Microcontroller

Flip 8051WHIRL16-Cyclone is the Developers' dream, fully compatible with the legacy 80C51 upwards in binary code, as it benefits from a complete Development Platform, with software solutions and hardware emulators for minimal.

Flip 8051WHIRL16-Cyclone is a High Performance 8-bit Microcontroller which operates on average 12.3 times faster than the legacy 80C51!

Additional 16-bit instructions accelerate key operations as multiplication and avoid, for Signal Processing, the need of a separate DSP core, for minimal “on-SoC” costs.

Key features of 8-bit microcontroller

  • Development Platform PRIDE™ compatible with Keil (µvision) and Raisonance (Ride)
  • SUCCESS™ for virtual Development Platform
  • 15 additional Instructions:
    • dedicated to DSP applications on 16-bit words
    • executed up to 50 times faster than the legacy i8051 using macro instructions.
  • Save size of Program memory and decrease execution time for DSP functions, e.g. FIR and BiQUAD.
  • Static synchronous design plus Interface with asynchronous memories.
  • Power saving Modes: Idle and Power Down - No internal tri-states (lower Consumption).
  • Ease of use of system interface:
    • Address and Data signals demultiplexed to enable easy memory connection,
    • Function pins separated for full use of I/O ports and peripherals, providing extra-port pin functions.

Product overview

Flip8051 WHIRL Cyclone is delivered as a configured option made of a core plus synthesizable peripherals among: Pulse Width Modulator, Watchdog Timer, UART, Timers, SPI…

The availability of Keil and Raisonance Development software solutions is a dual guarantee: of upward compatibility and of immediate availability for hardware-software coverification. Moreover, their ISS (Instruction Set Simulators) bundled with mixed signal simulator SMASH form cosimulator SUCCESS.

Our long lasting partnership with Raisonance has resulted in a complete offering of emulators, starting from a mainly software solution (virtual emulator) as the most economic choice, through XSmart, the richest in emulation features, up to BIRD, Built-in Real-time debugger. This panoply includes the optimal solution for each major goal and guarantees the easiest integration for the lowest “in-SoC” cost.

Cosimulator SUCCESS™

Mixed Signal Emulation serves to provide the software developer with a wide probing capability so as to trace-back a sequence of logic events or signal variations before a breakpoint. Separate ISS (Instruction Set Simulators) for simulating software, and electronic simulators like SMASH for simulating circuits, are readily available from diverse suppliers
