Launch of a three-phase configuration of Analog Front-End with 20 bit sensitivity for Smart Metering
Grenoble, France – August 19, 2011
Power metering is the basic function to enable smart grids, thanks to a precise control of power consumption for ecological and economic matters.
Dolphin Integration, silicon IP leader in high-resolution converters for integrated circuits of power metering, offers a three-phase Analog Front-End reaching the highest performances: up to a class of 0.1 and a large range of 1/2000, with 20 bits of sensitivity. The user thus benefits from a high precision measurement for adequate billing.
This new product named sensAFE-PM-3P.01 delivers a solution with a rich diversity of channels for covering the variety of usage needs:
-
3 current paths and 3 voltage paths for the basic measurement of power
-
1 tampering path + 3 auxiliary voltage paths for detecting any electricity theft on either consumer or supplier networks
-
1 auxiliary path for voltage calibration or control of the power supply
Moreover, for easy circuit integration and system application, the AFEs based on high-resolution ADCs are spiced-up with their required Virtual Components for peripheral function, including a low-drift voltage reference for calibration and an embedded regulator, enabling to use a single voltage for the power supply of either analog or digital parts.
SensAFE-PM-3P.01 is the most complete configuration, and thus, the ideal solution for three-phase smart metering applications, but it can be easily turned into a single-phase application for optimizing density and functionality.
For more information about this solution, as most needs are expected at 180 nm, make sure to have a look at the presentation sheet for all features of this sensAFE-PM-3P.01 or else contact Aurélie Descombes, product line manager: jazz@dolphin-ip.com
